There are various kinds of melanomas but only less than two percent result in the formation of Desmoplastic Melanoma. There are cases when diseases can cause threat to life if not diagnosed in the right manner. This often results due to over exposure to the sun and is a rare variant of melanoma. The growth of this tumor is vertical in nature and it was first described in the year 1971. This type of tumor is highly cancerous in nature. There are scars that occur due to damage of the Melanocytes. This disease basically targets all the places where there is a possibility of presence of Melanocytes. Melanocytes are pigments that are responsible for the color of the skin. Over exposure to sun or some form of hazardous ultra violet radiation can become a cause of this disease. Such diseases cause abnormal growth of scar that starts to destroy the skin cells. Such type of malfunctioning with the Melanocytes when grows cancerous in nature, it is termed as Desmoplastic Melanoma. There are a lot of medications that are used for this purpose but exposure to radiations on the radio therapy is considered as the most effective of them all. This type of therapy lessens the multiplication of the cells and makes them inactive.

Desmoplastic Melanoma

There are other therapies associated with it also. These include local excision but at the same time the margins should be clearly examined. There are cases when you remove the affected layers of skin but after some time the cancerous tumor reoccurs. This is even more harmful as the skin has lost all its strength to fight the infection and also its rigidity. The tumor if contacts the blood vessels of the bones would cause even more damage. This way it becomes even harder to treat. Therefore it's better not to treat it with some sort of scissoring or any other dissection. The margin of spread needs to be analyzed properly. This means that the exact boundary's of spread should be known. If these are underestimated and the therapies are performed within incomplete regions then the tumor would remain alive in some cells. This would lead to its reoccurrence.

Hence there should be analysis of the possible spread as there is a difference between the visible spread and the actual spread. After analyzing this difference the technique of adjuvant radiotherapy should be used. The cure of this disease is available but the only risk involved is that of reoccurrence. Hence it should be carefully diagnosed.
